New Delhi, Sept. 13

Jagran Prakashan Ltd (JPL), publishers of Dainik Jagran on Wednesday announced an in-principle agreement that would see it publish the facsimile edition of The Independent (International edition) from here.

An official statement issued on Wednesday states that JPL is in the process of finalising the launch of its second brand with the core management team already in place. "The Independent Group is planning to increase its stake by 1-3 per cent in Jagran Prakashan Ltd.

This, however, is subject to approval of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). At present it has 20.8 per cent stake in JPL," the statement adds. In addition, the Jagran Group is also in talks to sell a 20 per cent stake in its radio arm to The Independent Group.
