Kochi , Sept 12 The Chennai-based Image Infotainment Ltd has launched its new curriculum on e-learning and mobile gaming in Kerala. The course has been introduced after three years of extensive research on the mobile gaming and e-learning segments. Its aim is to create more career opportunities to college students, especially BE and MCA students, said Mr R. Madan, Director (Operations). The course combines visual artistry with programming techniques and focuses on the techniques and methodologies associated with designing the visual aspects used in the mobile gaming and e-learning industries, he added. According to Mr Madan, the unprecedented growth in the mobile subscriber base in India has provided the opportunity for Indian game developers to develop world-class mobile games. Currently, mobile subscribers downloading games are estimated to form two per cent of the total number of subscribers; this is projected to rise to 4.5 per cent by 2010. Quoting from a Nasscom study, he said that the mobile gaming industry in India is projected to increase from Rs 20 crore now to Rs 260 crore by 2010. Established in 1996, Image has 30 centres throughout the country; it would be opening a centre in UK shortly.
