Lord Krishna Bank staff on indefinite strike

Our Bureau

Kochi Sept. 7

Lord Krishna Bank employees under the aegis of the United Forum of LKB Unions have commenced an indefinite strike against the bank's proposed merger with Centurion Bank of Punjab.

They have demanded that LKB should be taken over by a public sector bank and also wanted an enquiry as to why the bank's financial health deteriorated and merger became the only solution for its survival.

The employees protested in front of the head office as well as in various branches inside and outside Kerala, a press release from the Unions said.

The Unions said it is not wise to merge Lord Krishna Bank with another new generation private sector bank that has large foreign equity participation.
