Apple unveils Mac Pro

Apple Computers on Thursday unveiled the new Mac Pro, targeting the audio-visual and design industries. The new product has a quad Xeon, 64-bit desktop workstation featuring two new Dual-core Intel Xeon processors running up to 3.0GHz.

Mac Pro will be available in all the 120 retail stores of the company across India and will be priced at Rs 1,63,700. Customers can also place online orders for the product.

The 20-inch, 23-inch, and 30- inch cinema HD display are available at a retail price of Rs 47,400, Rs 67,000 and Rs 1,29,700 respectively.

"Our target group will be film, video, design, digital photography, and science and technology divisions. Technology and Bollywood are booming and it will be the right time for us to start," said Mr Melvyn Chen, Desktop Product Marketing Manager Asia Pacific, Apple Computers.

The Mac pro features the 64 bit dual core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" with cooling fans to avoid overheating, 4 hard drive bays, 2 optical drive bays where disc- to-disc copying can be done, 667 MHz, 256 bit wide memory and double wide PCI express graphics slot. Mac Pro offers more than 4.9 million built-to order options including: two 2.0GHz Dual core Intel Xeon processor; up to 16GB of 667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered ECC memory; up to four 500GB serial ATA hard drives running at 7200 rpm; up to four two 16x super drives with double layer support; ATI Radeon x1900 XT and NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 graphics cards; blue tooth 2.0+EDR module; USB modem; wireless keyboard and mouse.
