The Hindu Business Line : Nabard aid for model livestock village in Kerala

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 2.61 crore to the Kerala Government for setting up a model livestock village at Mattupetty in Idukki district.

According to a press release issued by Mr B.S. Shekhawat, Chief General Manager, Nabard, the Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB) will implement the project to set up the model livestock village at Mattupetty. The total cost is expected to be Rs 2.76 crore, the release added.

A total area of 26 acres has been earmarked for the project. Important components of the project include construction of a livestock knowledge centre and a livestock farm, the release states.

The project also envisages the creation of recreational facilities for people who visit KLDB's existing livestock farm in Mattupetty. Visitor facilities that will come up as part of the project include an amphitheatre and a restaurant.
