The Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels (BHPV) Mazdoor Sangh, the recognised union in the ailing public sector unit here, has urged the Union Industries Ministry to take a decision soon on the promised and long-pending revival package for the unit or the alternative proposal to merge it either with Engineers India Ltd or BHEL.
Mr Ch. Munibabu, President of the union, said in a press release here on Monday that he and other union representatives had met Mr Santosh Mohan Dev, Union Minister for Heavy Industries, last week along with the local MP, Mr N. Janardhana Reddy.
The union leader said, "There have been proposals for sometime now to merge the unit either with the BHEL or Engineers India Ltd. In the first week of June, a team from EIL visited the unit and submitted a report. Later, a team from BHEL visited the unit. We urge the Government to expedite the process of merger."
He said BHPV had orders worth Rs 400 crore on hand and it could be revived easily, if the Government was sincere about it.
