`Tata Coffee not hit by stir'

Bangalore, Aug 28

Tata Coffee Ltd said on Monday that the ongoing strike at its instant coffee manufacturing facility at Toopran in Andhra Pradesh has not had any impact on the company's operations.

All 110 workers at the Toopran unit have been on strike for the past month over wage-related issues. "There is nothing to worry about. The strike has not impacted us in any way as we have stepped up the output at our another unit in Theni," said Mr M.H. Ashraff, Managing Director.

He also termed the strike as illegal as the workers had not given any notice. However, Mr Ashraff said that conciliatory meetings were on between the workers and the management. "We hope that the issue will get sorted out in 4-5 days," he added.
