Visakhapatnam, Aug. 21

The doctors of the King George Hospital here, animportant Government hospital in the three north-coastal districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam, went on strike on Monday and the patients were deprived of even emergency services, resulting in the death of an infant and three adults.

The doctors went on strike in protest against an assault on a doctor on Sunday when a man died in the hospital due to alleged medical negligence. The doctor on duty was allegedly beaten black and blue by the irate relatives of the man and the scenes were captured live by a Telugu TV channel, leading to vehement protests by doctors all over the State.
