Mr R. Velu, Union Minister of State for Railways, is scheduled to visit Machilipatnam on Sunday for the inauguration of the new fast passenger train service between Machilipatnam and Tirupati (that will run on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from Machilipatnam and in return on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday). The new train leaves Machilipatnam at 5.55 p.m. and reaches Tirupati at 6.30 a.m the next day. Mr Velu will also lay the foundation stone for the modernisation of Machilipatnam railway station.
