New Products & Services IBM launches new Rational version Our Bureau
Bangalore , Aug 10 IBM has announced the version 9 of its software suite for lifecycle management - Rational. The suite encompasses 12 tools, which automate the software testing process and help track changes made to the software code. This helps companies manage geographically distributed development and meet regulatory compliance demands. "The trend in the software and systems delivery scene has evolved over the ages from co-located to right-sourcing (of non-core portions of software development) to geographically distributed development. With the appropriate tools and a dashboard, managers can govern the entire software development process," said Mr Steve Robinson, Vice-President, Worldwide Sales, Rational Software, Software Group, IBM. "Rational reduces loss in additional transaction and monitoring costs for global software delivery," added Mr Mike Rhoads, Director, Rational Software, IBM Software Group (AP). Elaborating on IBM's APAC strategy, he said the firm would help set up centres of competence for clients, and that the suite would target the developer outsource growth market in India and China. The firm held a conference on Rational in the city, which saw 1,000 attendees and offered 15 technical workshops.
