Suguna Poultry Farms Ltd has emerged as the first poultry company in the country to implement an ERP solution for management of its key business processes. The company went live on Oracle Applications on Thursday.

Its Managing Director, Mr B. Soundararajan, said the effort was aimed at supporting the company's growth and growing IT needs. "We expect our operational efficiency and employee productivity to attain tremendous improvement with this implementation," he said.

With this implementation, Oracle has entered into a hitherto unexplored space. The project has been executed in a span of eight months. It extends across the company's corporate office, nine regional offices and 100 branch office, six grandparent poultry farms, 120 breeder farms, 30 hatcheries, 10,000 broiler farms, about 25 feed mills and five transportation offices.

The Coimbatore-based company is an integrated poultry farm with over 10,000 farmers from 270 business locations feeding into Suguna's supply chain. The Oracle Applications module implemented at Suguna include enterprise resource planning, advanced pricing, enterprise asset management, self-service work request, incentive compensation, and advanced supply chain planning and constraint brand optimisation.
