UAE women team at Kerala boat race

A group of 10 women based in the United Arab Emirates will take part in the Nehru Trophy Boat Race to be held in Alappuzha on Saturday. The women, who come from several different countries, will join 23 Indian women from the Alleppey Boat Club to participate in the race, said Ms Julie Amer, the leader of the group at a press conference in the city today. "We hope to be back next year with a full team," she added. Speaking at the press conference, Mr B. Suman, Director, Kerala Tourism, said that this is perhaps the first time that an international women's team is participating in the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. While in Kerala, the international women's team will spend four days training with their Indian team mates and will also experience life in the State, said Ms Amer. The international women's team has been put together by Mountain High, a Dubai-based adventure travel company.
