The training programme, which was launched at Kurnool recently, was attended by 55 seed growers from the neighbouring Mahboobnagar district.
Hyderabad , Aug. 1 To help farmers produce more hybrid cottonseed an acre, Proagro Company has launched `Target 400' training programme for the farmers in Mahboobnagar district. Farmers in the district, one of the major cottonseed producing areas, usually produce 260-300 packets (each packet containing 750 gm) of hybrid cottonseed. "But this is far less than the actual potential," a Proagro spokesperson said. The training programme, which was launched at Kurnool recently, was attended by 55 seed growers from the neighbouring Mahboobnagar district. These growers were exposed to a comprehensive methodology of crop management from seedbed preparation to post harvest operations. "Simple techniques like wetting in a particular way at a particular time would lead to better productivity," the spokesperson pointed out. The company, part of Bayer CropScience, said the training programme would help prepare standardised procedure. "When the company goes ahead with increase the farms next year, these standardised procedures will help productivity significantly," the representative said. Each of the farmers was given a kit, comprising Target 400 manual with illustrations and information in Telugu. "This will serve as a guide to take appropriate decisions during the seed production process," the spokesperson added. The training programme, which was launched at Kurnool recently, was attended by 55 seed growers from the neighbouring Mahboobnagar district.
