Nabard to tie up with NDDB

Our Bureau

Kolkata , July 31

Nabard has proposed to team-up with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to kick-start a first-of-its-kind Rs 2,000-crore milk project in the country. The FI, which will provide a substantial part of the funds required for the project, sees this as a major initiative to encourage animal husbandry. The project will cover various other aspects of the business, including breeding stations and chilling plants.

"We are discussing a 10-year plan," said Dr Thorat, denoting that the joint exercise will translate into a pioneering programme. NDDB, known for its efforts to mobilise grassroots milk producers and closely identified with the epithet `Operation Flood', is expected to play a critical role in the venture.
