Chennai , July 31 Gujarat Tourism is on a road show around the country aggressively promoting the State as a tourism destination and is targeting 10 million tourism arrivals this year compared to the 7.7 million last year, according to Mr P.D. Vaghela, Managing Director, Gujarat Tourism. He was confident that the State would achieve this number as three million tourists visited Gujarat during the first quarter of this year.
Tourism Budget
Talking to Business Line on the sidelines of the tourism road show, Mr Vaghela said that the tourism budget was enhanced to Rs 100 crore this year from Rs 30 crore last year. He said that this would mainly be spent on infrastructure. All departments have been asked to draw up tourism action plans and the budget allocation is Rs 400 crore, which would be utilised for gardens, pay and use toilets and road signages.
