Novartis Q1 net down 31 pc

Novartis India Ltd has seen a 31-per-cent dip in net profit, at Rs 25.74 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2006. The company clocked a net profit of Rs 37.31 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Total income has decreased from Rs 168.77 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 to Rs 151.68 crore for quarter ended June 30, 2006, the company told the Bombay Stock Exchange. A note from the company said that Q1 performance for the quarter under review is not comparable to the same period in the previous year. Novartis shares closed marginally up at Rs 410.10 on the BSE.
