New Delhi , July 27

UPS, a global package delivery company, on Thursday opened its first full-service store in in Delhi. It already has one in Mumbai.

The company operates in India through a master licence agreement between its wholly-owned subsidiary Mail Boxes Etc and the India-based aviation services provider Jet Air Business Solutions Pvt Ltd.

"Jet Air is the master franchisee of UPS in India and plans to open 150 new stores in the country in next three to five years," said Mr Mahiyar M. Sadri, Director, Jet Air Business Solutions. Jet Air had, earlier in 2005, opened UPS' first full-services store outside of North America in Mumbai, Mr Sadri said.

The UPS store is a full-service retail concept that combines shipping, packaging and other business services such as digital printing, office supplies and Jet Airways ticketing services. The store would primarily serve small and medium-sized businesses and private consumers.

"India's role in the global economy continues to grow impressively, and the UPS store will provide business as well as consumers a convenient channel to markets throughout the world," said Mr David Abney, President, UPS International.
