Dabur Pharma Q1 net up 10.4%

Dabur Pharma Ltd has reported a 10.4-per cent increase in the net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 at Rs 6.63 crore compared to Rs 6.01 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The turnover in the quarter under review grew by 10.8 per cent to Rs 81.08 crore (Rs 73.19 crore), the company said in a release here.

"The company's oncology formulations and bulk drugs business, which accounts for almost 70 per cent of the total pharma business, posted a growth of 25 per cent during the quarter," the Dabur Pharma Chief Operating Officer, Mr Ajay Vij, said.

"The company has strengthened its foothold in the domestic and international market and is progressing on track in its R&D initiatives. We expect to get approvals for two ANDAs, filed in 2004-05, during the second half of this fiscal that will mark our entry into the US market," the Dabur Pharma Chairman, Mr Anand Burman, said.
