REALLY HOT: A worker cleaning pepper at a godown near Kochi. Pepper prices have begun to rise on fears of shortage in the global market. The prices have increased by over Rs 1,200 a quintal in a week's time in the futures market. A tight supply position has resulted in spot prices soaring to Rs 9,000 a quintal. Prices for export are ruling above $2,000 a tonne (c&f).
