It is proposed to have an equity of Rs 285 crore and term loans of Rs 569 crore for the Andhra Pradesh project.

Evergrowing Iron and Finvest Ltd(EIFL), based in Tripura, has expressed its intent to invest Rs 854 crore in Nellipaka village in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh to set up an integrated steel plant.

A six-member team called on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and hinted at their interest in setting up a steel plant through sponge iron with a capacity of 0.68 million tonnes per annum and an induction furnace. This will have a captive 130-MW power plant.

The waste heat gases generated from the process will be used for generation of power and the water for horticulture crops with sprinkler irrigation systems.

The project would be ready by July 2009.

Dr Reddy assured them State Government support.

The Director of EIFL, Mr R.P.Goel, said the company operateda steel unit in Tripura with an annual turnover of Rs 212 crore.

It is proposed to have an equity of Rs 285 crore and term loans of Rs 569 crore for the Andhra Pradesh project.

Irrigation projects

Dr Reddy will inaugurate two more irrigation projects - Peddagadda in Vizianagaram district and Surampalem in East Godavari districts in August second week. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Dr Reddy directed the officials to ensure that the water for 7.5 lakh acres under new ayacut is supplied as per the schedule.

Following a review meeting that Dr Reddy had with the State Irrigation Minister, Mr Ponnala Laxamiah, it was decided to have stringent quality control norms that would be followed by regular third party quality controls over designs and material used.

It was decided to develop hydel projects alongside lift irrigation schemes.

This work is to be handled through APGenco at Dummugudem, Pulichintala, Sigareddypalem and Polavaram. The Government will also hold parleys with National Thermal Power Corporation Ltdfor two hydel projects at Pranahitha-Chevella.
