Shipping Industry & Economy - Fertilisers Russian vessel unloads record quantity of DAP at Kandla Our Bureau
Kandla , July 20 The Kandla Port recorded yet another achievement on July 15 when a Russian vessel unloaded 15,030 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) in 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 14,500 tonnes handled in November 2004 by MV Tai Bai Bai, the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) said in a release today. The vessel, MV IDC-3, unloaded the DAP, originating from Russia, for the importer of the cargo, IFFCO, Kandla. Interocean Shipping Ltd was the steamer agent, while Regal Shipping was the clearing agent. Swaminarayan Vijay Carrier acted as stevedores for the cargo. During the first quarter ended June, KPT handled 11.19 million tonnes of cargo against 11.07 mt in the corresponding previous period. The port attracted new cargoes in containerised form such as soda ash, sugar, chemicals, mild steel, steel products, soybean, spices, and engineering products, among others. The cargoes that showed increasing trends were crude oil, oil extractions, raw material for fertiliser, containerised cargo, timber logs, steel pipes, iron ore, sugar, and cement.
