Nabard staff plan agitation today

The National Bank Officers' Association (NBOA) and the National Bank Employees' Association (NBEA) of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) have decided to go in for agitation and observe a demand day on Wednesday, the formation day of Nabard.

In a press release here, the NBOA Secretary, Mr S. Padmanabhan, and the NBEA Secretary, Mr K. Kailasapathi, said the agitation was being planned in view of the farmers in various parts of the country being in distress and committing suicides.

The two unions are demanding maintenance of developmental financial institution (DFI) status of Nabard, withdrawal of proposal to dilute shareholding of Government of India/Reserve Bank of India in Nabard purported at strengthening of the bank, adequate concessionary financial support from GoI/RBI, provision of concessionary credit to landless, small and marginal farmers, and also immediate settlement of charter of demands on wages and other service conditions.
