BEA Systems top vendor in Enterprise Service Bus: Forrester

Our Bureau

By 2008, more than 60 pc of the enterprises would use SOA: Gartner

Coimbatore , July 9

Independent research firm Forrester has spotted BEA Systems as the `top most' vendor in Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), after investigating eight vendors in this space. The products were evaluated on three criteria — product offering, vendor strategy and market presence.

Forrester defines an ESB as "an intermediary that makes a set of reusable business services widely available."

SOA environment

According to the research firm's recent report entitled `The Enterprise Service Bus: The Forrester Wave Product Evaluation, Q2, 2006', the total value of the solution was most compelling when the customer used multiple BEA products to provide a complete Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment. `Organisations seeking high-end ESBs would find the combination of ALSB and WLI powerful, yet flexible alternative for supporting their efforts to implement SOA (even where other platforms need to be accommodated),' the report added.

Commenting on this recognition, the BEA Vice-President (Integration Products), Mr. Tony de la Lama, said companies always looked at speeding up services deployment and simplifying service-oriented architecture management, while enhancing existing investments in heterogeneous environments. "BEA's AquaLogic Service Bus (ALSB) is designed to provide customers these capabilities," he said.

The BEA ALSB is designed to deliver dynamic routing, protocol brokering and transformation, through a meta-data driven configuration environment that help accommodate change by removing the management of services (from the services themselves), creating an agile SOA infrastructure responsive to changing business needs.
