Banglaore, July 6

One of the top five car rental companies in the world, Sixt, which started operations in the country seven months ago, expects to break even by middle of next year. Sixt's master franchisee for India, Sona Mobility Services' CEO, Mr Sunjay Kapur, told Business Line that around Rs 30 crore will be invested into the country for their operations. The company expects to have 200 cars in July, 500 cars by March 2007 and 6,000 cars in another four years. "With 750 cars, we expect to break even by the middle of next year," Mr Kapur said.

He said nearly 97 per cent of the Rs 9,000-crore market in India was unorganised but the market was growing at around 25 per cent. "It is our time to shape the market rather the market shaping us," he said. The company plans to tap the huge student population for sourcing drivers. He said Sixt has three operations in the country, which includes leasing business, rentals and used car market. Some of its clients include, Honda Motors, Airtel, Accenture and Taj Blue Diamond.
