Chennai , July 5

Paradox, a mobile game development company, has tied up with actor Madhavan to bring out six mobile game titles based on the actor.

The first game is titled Madhavan's MIG, which allows the player to get into the cockpit of an MIG aircraft. The game would be released on Reliance Mobile World, and the company has tied up with Spice India and Idea Cellular to provide it to those customers as well, according to Mr Salil Bhargava, Chief Executive Officer, Paradox.

Asked about the payment model, Mr Bhargava said that there are two models, the pay-per-play version, where the user would pay Rs 5 every time he or she plays the game, and the purchase model, where the user would download the game on a permanent basis. He said the pricing for the latter model would differ according to the service provider, but would be in the region of Rs 50 to Rs 99.

Mr Bhargava said that the gaming industry in India - excluding pirated goods - currently stands at about Rs 100 crore, about 70 per cent of which is accounted for by mobile gaming, and is projected to grow to about Rs 300 crore by 2009.

He said that Mobile Advergames, which involves brand endorsed and celebrity-based games, is an area the company is looking at seriously. About a month back, the company released a soccer mobile game based on Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia, and a guitar-based game with musician Bappi Lahiri.
