AP announces relief measures for flood hit

The State administration has announced some relief measures for those affected by the recent rains. Families brought to the relief camps following incessant rains will be provided 20 kg of rice and Rs 250 for clothes and Rs 250 for utensils.

Apart from free rice, about five litres of kerosene would be provided by the district administration.

Loss assessment

According to a statement from the State Revenue Department, an assessment of crop loss and damage would be taken up by the Agriculture Department and proposals submitted by the District Collectors as per norms and formats already prescribed for release of inputs subsidy.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, reviewed the flood situation arising out of inundation of parts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts particularly in the catchment areas of the Nagavali and Vamsadhara river systems in neighbouring Orissa.
