Coimbatore , July 1

The Erode-based Hashprompt Logistics Management India Pvt Ltd has come out with its vehicle tracking system, "V Track 1800 WC" model, which uses software and hardware developed in-house by the company.

The `V Track 1800 WC' offered by the company uses the GPRS (general packet radio service) for data transfer between the vehicles fitted with the equipment and the company's data centre.

Web-based software

Incorporated with the proven communication and cellular technologies such as the GSP and GSM, the tracking device is run on easy-to-use Web-based location mapping software developed by its flagship, Hashprompt Infotech India Pvt Ltd, its 100 per cent export-oriented logistic software development company.

According to Mr Sathiskumar Govindasamy, Managing Director of Hashprompt Logistics Management India, the hardware for the tracking system designed and developed inhouse six months ago is already through the market stabilisation phase.

The first commercial launch of the device was made at a function in Erode on Wednesday.

Installations

In the past six months, the company had completed 50 installations on test basis and a combination of vehicles operated across the country are fitted with the tracking device supplied by Hashprompt.

The Erode-based software company, a 100 per cent export-oriented unit registered under the STPI programme, is already exporting logistics software since 2002 to its clients in the US which, according to Mr Govindasamy inspired it to go commercial marketing the tracking device in India. Among the users of the company's device is a major cab operator from Amritsar who has fitted the tracking system for its fleet of Toyota "Innova" cars.

The company is also trying to bring out a display mode in its tracking system, which can give out the data in local language.
