Sams Auto launches car sale portal

Archana Venkat

Chennai , June 28

UK-based Sams Auto Trade India has launched carsalesindia.com, a Web platform for car buyers, sellers and dealers.

The site has a database of used and new cars along with their pictures, details of the ownership and other information. It offers email alerts, car reviews, car research and expert advice. It has tied up with ICICI Lombard to offer online car insurance and is in talks with other vehicle insurance companies, said Mr Samuel Jeyakumar, Chairman and Director, Sams Auto Trade.

The site also has information on car finance.

At present, 1,000 of the 2,000 cars listed for sale on the site are from Chennai, a press release said. Over 90 per cent of used-car dealers in Chennai are registered on the site and talks are on to include new car dealers like Access Hyundai and Kapico Maruti, said Mr Jeyakumar.

Users can register for free and search for a car. Car owners can advertise online for free for 15 days. Subsequently one-month and three-month advertising would cost Rs 199 and Rs 499 respectively. This includes free display of a digital photograph of the car. Carsalesindia.com has about 30 portals linked to it, each catering to different regions such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and New Delhi. There is also a separate portal for two-wheelers — bikesalesindia.com.
