Spot rubber rules steady

Aravindan

Kottayam , June 26

Spot rubber ruled steady on Monday. The market appeared reluctant to gain further as players took to the sidelines following unimpressive overseas performance. Sheet rubber finished at Rs 106.50 a kg at Kottayam. The grade declined to the same level from Rs 107 a kg at Kochi on buyer resistance.

The absence of major manufacturers and the swings in weather conditions also dominated the day's sentiments. But the prices remained unchanged, as there were no quantity sellers in the main marketing centres.

Futures weak

The rubber futures recorded marginal losses on NMCE. The near month July contract was quoted at Rs 108.81 (Rs 109.46), August at Rs 109.81 (Rs 110.55), September at Rs 106 (Rs 106.95) and October contract at Rs 103.66 (Rs 103.90) per kg for RSS 4.The trading volumes were dull at 793 tonnes till midday.

Spot rubber (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 106.50 (Rs 106.50); RSS-5: Rs 104.00 (Rs 104.00); Ungraded: Rs 98.00 (Rs 98.00); ISNR 20: Rs 101.00 (Rs 101.00) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 78.95 (Rs 78.95).
