Plea to cut duty on wax

The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has appealed to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to reduce the duty on wax to some extent. Congratulating the Government for its formal notification of a reduction in customs duty on petrol and diesel from 10 per cent to 7.5 per cent, the Chamber Secretary, Mr P.T.K. Balasubramanian, in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister has pointed out that wax is a key raw material for match production and the price rise has hit the match industry.
