Mangalore, June 21

The Chairman of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Mr P. Tamilvanan, has stressed the need for maintaining a balance between development and environment. A press release by the NMPT said here on Wednesday that Mr Tamilvanan was presiding over `World Environment Day' celebrations at the port recently. He said that NMPT was committed for the protection of green belt in and around the port area. Prof N.A. Madyastha, former Principal of Poornaprajna College, Udupi, spoke on the occasion. Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, welcomed the gathering.
