HDFC Bank offers online remittance facility

Our Bureau

Mumbai , June 21

HDFC Bank has launched online remittance facility for non-resident Indians from USA, UK and Singapore using the RTGS platform. RTGS is RBI's Real-Time-Gross-Settlement Service.

According to a press release, NRIs can send remittances using HDFC Bank's `Quickremit Online remittance service' and the credits can be made directly to the accounts of the family members held with any of the branches of the 90 banks in India which participate in RBI's RTGS service.

NRIs can use Quickremit to send a remittance from any bank account in the USA or UK by logging-on to the bank's Web site. A remittance once received by HDFC Bank and processed through RTGS should be credited to the beneficiary's account using RTGS on the same day or by the next working day. NRIs remitting the funds will also be able to track online the status of a remittance sent by them.

Mr Shyamal Saxena, Senior Vice President - Retail Banking, HDFC Bank, said: "Through Quickremit, the bank's NRI customers will be able to credit funds directly to the beneficiary's bank account even in other banks."
