Our Bureau

Chennai, June 19

Airtel announced here today that roaming costs would be slashed for its customers in Chennai and Tamil Nadu when travelling in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka.

The revised rate is Rs 2 per minute for a call as against the earlier rate of Rs 2.89 to Rs 3.99 per minute. The rate would be applicable for both postpaid and prepaid customers, according to a release.

Mr P. Swaminathan, Chief Operating Officer, Mobility, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel Ltd, was quoted in the release as saying there is a strong community of interest within the four southern States, and this roaming benefit satisfies a long felt need of this community.
