TTDC launches new package tour

Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has launched a13-day `rail-cum-road tours' originating from Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Tamil Nadu attracts 25 lakh tourists from Maharashtra, which is the highest among states. The tour is a part of marketing and publicity campaign of TTDC.

The package includes travel from Mumbai and Ahmedabad by train, sight seeing across South India and Tamil Nadu in hi-tech coaches and return by train from Chennai.The tour also includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation in TTDC hotels. "A visit to Thirumala and a glimpse of Lord Balaji will also be a part of the tour," said Mr N. Prabhakaron, the Secretary-cum-Chief Accounts Manager, TTDC.

"Based on the feedback from tourists, TTDC has introduced tours to Bangalore, Mysore, Kochi and Tirupati," Mr Prabhakaron said at a press conference. Major heritage sights, ecological sights and beaches would be a part of the tour. The tariff for AC coach and accommodation would be Rs. 16,250 and non-AC coach and accommodation would be for Rs. 10,350 for adults. The charges for children and senior citizens could vary. The corporation has plans to invest Rs 1.5 crore in nine new coaches in the future, said Mr Prabhakaron. TTDC expects a turn over of Rs 46 crore during 2006-07 from 42 crore in 2005-06.
