"The challenge before Indian suppliers is to maintain quality and ensure timely delivery.''
Chennai , June 8 ACMEE 2006, a five-day industrial exhibition organised by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers' Association, opened on Thursday with speakers highlighting the opportunities for the Indian engineering industry to tap global markets. Mr Les Ball, Director - Global Sourcing & European Region, Supply Chain Management, Eaton Industries, said globally manufacturing companies were looking to source components from cost-effective locations like India. The challenge before Indian suppliers was to maintain quality and ensure timely delivery. Eaton, for instance, he later told presspersons, was actively looking to source components from countries such as India and China. However, he declined to say the value of components that the company was sourcing from India. Eaton has a global sourcing office in Pune. It is a $10-billion diversified industrial manufacturer with interests in electrical, fluid power, automotive and truck. Inaugurating the exhibition, the Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr S.S.
