Palladam weaving park to have marketing consortium

G. Gurumurthy

Coimbatore, June 7

The promoters of Palladam Hi-tech Weaving Park, an integrated textile park project coming up in the district under the public-private initiative, will also have a marketing consortium of their own.

The consortium being promoted will be in place by the time the individual weaving units investing in the project start their commercial operation, so that it takes up the role of providing the all-important market linkage to the project, according to Mr Senthil Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Palladam Hi-tech Weaving Park.

Strategic investors sourcing the products produced from the project will figure in the promotion of marketing consortium, which will handle all crucial commercial decisions including the yarn procurement, fabric sale and the product pricing.

Of the estimated Rs 250-crore investment that is likely to go into the project, some Rs 75 crore would go into the marketing consortium.

The Government, which has approved PHWP as one of the nine textile parks cleared under the scheme of integrated textile park programme, is also extending financial support in the form of investment grant to the extent of 40 per cent of the cost of infrastructure for the project.
