New Delhi , May 30

NIIT Ltd plans to add 85 new training centres in the country and globally with an investment of Rs 20 crore. While 60 centres would be set up in the country, another 25 would be set up in China, Nigeria, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh over the next 12 months.

The IT and training company tied up with Sun Microsystems India on Tuesday to offer students specialised education and training programmes on Sun technologies.

While speaking on the alliance between the two companies, the NIIT Chief Executive Officer, Mr Vijay Thadani, said, "Our intent is to prepare a large number of skilled IT professionals not just in India, but on a global basis."

Through this alliance NIIT would have access to the latest Sun technologies, tools, technical resources and curriculum on Java and Solaris platforms.

Initially, the focus will be on Sun Java platform, while Solaris will be addressed later this year. NIIT aims to train two lakh students in the next three to four years.
