Talks on Bt cotton pricing mooted

With the kharif season fast approaching, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, has asked the officials of the Ministry to talk to Bt cotton seed companies on the pricing issue. The Minister, who is on a tour in the Netherlands, discussed over phone about the developments with regard to the contentious issue of Bt cotton and asked them to get prepared to put forth the State's point of view on the issue in the Supreme Court. The Minister also told them about a proposal to send a team of MPs to the Prime Minister and the Union Agriculture Minister to solicit their support on the issue. Mr Reddy said the State Government would seek the support of the Netherlands to develop the food processing industry. The Minister, who visited Wageningen University, was shown technologies that could preserve mangoes, roses and tomatoes for a few weeks, a press release issued here said.
