This is with reference to "Reservations: Let down by weak data," (Business Line, May 18): It was informative and thought-provoking.

However, there is no status report on such issues as the initial objective with regard to reservation; the efforts taken by the government towards these objectives; the total expenditure incurred on SC/STs and OBC/OBTs in education, write-off of loans; whether these efforts have really yielded the desired results and the present status of SC/STs & OBC/OBTs. Statistics on these issues should be made available to the public in a transparent manner.
