Ms Arathi Krishna, daughter of Mr Suresh Krishna, Chairman and Managing Director, Sundram Fasteners Ltd, has joined the board of directors of Sundram Fasteners with effect from May 3, according to a notification to the stock exchanges.

Ms Krishna, 38, a gold medallist in Economics from Madras University and an MBA from Michigan University, is the second daughter of Mr Suresh Krishna.

The notification says that Ms Krishna has been appointed as the Managing Director, but designated as Executive Director of the company, for a period of five years.

Company sources have explained that it is possible to appoint a Managing Director and designate the person as Executive Director, just as a MD could be called a CEO or a COO.

In order to keep the ratio of promoter-directors in-tact, Sundram Fasteners has inducted Mr C.V. Karthik Narayanan, industrialist, into the board as an independent director.
