The Hyderabad-based SEC Industries Ltd has been selected for the annual Technology Day awards for 2006 given by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology. The award recognises the company's ability to indigenously develop and commercialise critical aerospace technology, which helps to improve technological capability and save foreign exchange. According to a company press release, the company has successfully designed and developed a cost effective, dual-contour, stretch-forming machine. This equipment would help in the production of cost-effective aerospace profiles for airframe structures in the aviation sector. The awards are given the Technology Development Board under the Ministry every year on May 11, which is observed as `Technology Day'. The company's Managing Director, Mr D. Vidyasagar, would receive the award from the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, at a function in New Delhi on Thursday.
