Karnataka tops in software exports

STPI site is a laggard

Chennai , May 8

It has been widely reported that software exports from STPIs (Software Technology Parks of India) have jumped past the Rs 1 lakh crore mark by the end of last fiscal.

In the top slot is Karnataka with an export tally of Rs 37,000 crore. Maharashtra, in the second place, has less than half that amount to show at Rs 15,500 crore. And Tamil Nadu, with Rs 13,960 crore, is in the third spot.

Compared to the total exports achieved by units in Software Technology Parks last year, the increase in financial year 2005-06 is about 36 per cent.

However, the information revolution does not seem to spill over to the site of STPI.

For, what one finds on the home page www.stpn.soft.net are but dated events among `latest news'. Such as, `STPI software export awards ceremony held in New Delhi on June 13, 2003.'
