Coconut oil futures fluctuated last week due to disruptions in supply owing to the elections and holidays.

All four contracts registered a moderate gain on the First Commodity Exchange of India in the beginning and then showed a declining trend. May contract opened at Rs 4,745 on May 2 and touched a high at Rs 4,905 on May 3 and then a low at Rs 4,625 before closing at Rs 4,650 on May 6.

June contract opened at Rs 4,750, reached a high of Rs 4,850 on May 3, and closed at Rs 4,610.

July contract opened at Rs 4,700, moved up to Rs 4,850 on May 3, slipped to a low of Rs 4,600 and closed at Rs 4,620.

August contract opened at Rs 4,800 went up to Rs 4,955 on May 3 and touched a low at Rs 4,725 and closed at Rs 4,755.

The total transactions during the week stood at 2,844 tonnes.

The prices may decline in the coming days, as seasonal arrivals will start from North Kerala coupled with arrivals from Tamil Nadu, market sources pointed out.
