PM to inaugurate BITS Goa campus

Panaji, May 4

The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will formally inaugurate the Goa campus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS, Pilani) on Friday. The Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsingh Rane, Mr K.K. Birla, Chancellor of BITS, Pilani and members of the board of governors of the institute would be present.

The campus, which has become operational since August 2004, now has two batches of students numbering 1,200 with 150 faculty members under 11 streams of engineering courses, said a spokesman. BITS also has a campus in Dubai and is planning one in Hyderabad. - Prakash Kamat
