Hyderabad all set for ADB meet

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , May 2

About 2,500 delegates from 63 countries across the globe would be gathering at Hyderabad on Wednesday for the four-day 39th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The event brings together senior government officials, academics, business people, investment bankers and representatives of international organisations and NGOs.

The Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry, Mr Arvind Mayaram, who is overseeing the arrangements for the meet, told Business Line that all the arrangements have been made. Being held only for the second time in India, the meet would look at how to address poverty in the context of the challenges facing a rapidly transforming Asia Pacific region, he said.

According to him, among the issues that were scheduled to figure prominently were the development challenges facing Asia in the face of global imbalances, India's and South Asia's role in a region that is rapidly integrating, and the Asia Pacific region's massive infrastructure needs.
