The Goa Government will hold talks with the Power Trading Corporation Ltd (PTCL) in the second week of May to workout a revenue sharing agreement over the 30-MW power project of the Goa Energy Ltd (GEL) coming up at Amona in north Goa.
The Power Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, told Business Line that PTCL had already singed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GEL, a joint venture of Sesa Goa and Videocon Ltd, which is setting up a power generation plant utilising energy from Sesa Goa's coke furnaces. He said PTCL will be wheeling the power through State Government's transmission system and as such it would have to share revenue with the Government.
PTCL's Chairman, Mr T.N. Thakur, would come down to Goa to talk to him, Mr Kamat said.
In reply to a question Mr Kamat said the State Government's Power Department generated revenue of Rs 580 crore for the year 2005-06 as against the target of Rs 600 crore. He was happy with the performance as it was despite some major breakdown the State faced from Korba power feeder for almost three months during the year.
