Sharp rise in precious metals

Mumbai , April 18

Precious metals prices jumped up further on the local bullion market on Tuesday following strong overseas advices and stray buying interest.

Silver (.999 fineness) was up Rs 440 at Rs 20,640 per kg over previous close on limited offerings.

Pure gold prices were up Rs 180 at Rs 9,145 per 10 gm. Standard mint prices were up Rs 180 at Rs 9,100 per 10 gm.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 20,615; retail silver (per gm): Rs 22.05; Standard gold: Rs 9,220; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 854.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 20,200; Gold ready: Rs 9,270.
