Pascal's pressure

This is with reference to "Will Pascal's Law work in Lamy's case?" (Business Line, April 15).

It is amusing that Mr Pascal Lamy, instead of pleading with the US/EU governments to do their bit to make the WTO negotiations succeed by complying with their pledge to reduce export subsidies and domestic support for eventual phasing out, undertakes a trip to India to explore what it can do for the developed countries to gain greater access in non-farm areas.

Tokyo's plans of an agreement with Asian neighbours appear more enticing than a Doha Round on US/EU terms.
