Mumbai , April 14

After nearly two-and-a-half decades of heading his company, founded by himself, Mr Ashank Desai, Executive Director of Mastek Ltd, has decided on a long-ish sabbatical.

His break will start this May and he expects to be back at the helm only in January 2007, according to a statement.

In his absence, Mr Sudhakar Ram, group CEO, will additionally take over as acting chairman.

During this period, Mr Desai will be busy with his responsibilities with a number of industry and public organisations, said a spokesperson for Mastek.
