Corporates raise $2 b through ECBs in Feb

Chennai , April 12

Indian companies raised $2 billion (around Rs 9,000 crore) through external commercial borrowings (ECBs) in February, according to data provided by the Reserve Bank of India. About 49 companies raised money during the month.

Cumulatively, about 527 companies have raised about $13.64 billion through ECBs during the fiscal. The lead fund raiser in February was Ranbaxy Laboratories, raising $440 million through foreign currency convertible bonds for an overseas acquisition. The bonds had a tenor of five years.
